This one-week, 40-hour class provides the tools and concepts for new supervisors to be effective on day one!
The Supervisory Institute is designed to provide participants with the foundation on which to build their future as law enforcement managers and leaders. Individual modules cover practical leadership concepts, strategies to improve and polish communication skills, current human resource management requirements, the legal concerns of supervisors, a study of agency and individual ethics for the manager, creating positive interactions between the community and law enforcement agencies, managing today’s workforce, and employee accountability. Students apply the principles presented in various job-related contexts throughout the course.
The final day of class brings together all the concepts taught into a class project that is evaluated both by the instructors and the other students.
All instructors in the Supervisory Institute are Colorado law enforcement officers who have served at command levels in Colorado Agencies. As with all Training for Transfer classes this class was developed for Colorado Law Enforcement Agencies by Colorado Law Enforcement Personnel.
