Train the Trainer

The Train the Trainer is a 40-hour, five-day instructor development class that fulfills the Colorado POST Instructional Methodology Program requirements to certify those that complete the class as academy instructors in Colorado. This class teaches students to build lesson plans that meet the POST Curriculum Committee standards.

All of the content of this class is based on evidence-informed adult learning concepts from both academic and work-place research.  This class has been built using these concepts and throughout the class the instructors model the concepts.

This course prepares instructors to develop and deliver training in both classroom and skills-based settings.  It is a highly interactive, performance-based class.  During the class students will have the opportunity to work with a small group of other students to practice the concepts presented during class by developing, documenting, and presenting an original training built during class.  Through the course of the week students will also give other shorter training presentations that are from provided lesson plans, from other provided content in the class, as well as drawing on their prior knowledge and training.
